I have Bartlett’s Roget’s Thesaurus and it seems to be a good one, but I am thinking of buying a oxford dictionary. Any advice will be much appreciated.
My favorite dictionary is the Oxford Dictionary of English. I also have the unabridged Webster’s, but I prefer the Oxford.

I just had my computer installed with microsoft worr 2003 but I don’t have a built in dictionary. When I compose something on word, there are now way I can correct misspellings. Please help.
The dictionary is a setup option that should have been selected. You could go back to who ever installed it and ask them to rerun setup, do a repair and add in the dictionary.
This page explains how to get it from another computer

I used a dictionary for my assignment and need to write it into my bibliography. How do I write it out correctly? Do I need to cite the ‘words’ I used from it and page numbers…. etc? please use an example so I can see!
What manual I am using? huh?
At school we use Harvard Bibliography system.
The dictionary I used is the Australian School Dictionary.
Encyclopaedia or dictionary
Encyclopaedias and dictionaries should be cited in the in-text reference only, NOT in the Reference List.
Examples:
(Literacy in America: an encyclopedia 2001, p.25) states……
The Macquarie dictionary (1997) defines it as……

I just got a new enV touch and I’m having trouble with the texting. When you type a word that’s not in the dictionary of the phone, it usually adds it after typing it a few times. It’s not doing it though, and I was just wondering how to fix it or if there’s a special setting for it or something. Thanks!
I have this same problem!!!! It’s very annoying. It doesn’t even wanna type didn’t or wouldn’t for some strange reason. I hope they get it fixed because I’m not used to QWERT and I like typing on the regular ABC vertical format. Hope we get helped!

I accidently added a word to my Microsoft word dictionary. It is unfortunately a word I use extensively for work and research. How do I remove the misspelled word from my dictionary?
You can edit the custom dictionary this way:
In Word versions prior to Word 2007:
1.Click the Tools->Options menu item.
2.Click the Spelling & Grammar tab.
3.Click the Custom Dictionaries button.
4.Select CUSTOM.DIC. Be careful not to clear the checkbox.
5.Click the Modify button.
6.Find and select the word you want to delete.
7.Click the Delete button.
8.OK out of everything.
In Word 2007:
1.Click the round Office button in the upper-left corner of the window.
2.Click the Word Options button.
3.Click Proofing.
4.Select CUSTOM.DIC. Be careful not to clear the checkbox.
5.Click the Edit Word List button.
6.Find and select the word you want to delete.
7.Click the Delete button.
8.OK out of everything.
Hope that helps.

All the dictionaries I have found simply have a sentence describing the meaning of the word. And that makes sense, its quick and efficient.
But I was hoping to find an online dictionary that has various examples of the word being used in various sentences. Is there any such thing?
Dictionary.com generally provides a sentence for each subtle meaning of the word.
Otherwise, just google the word itself and see how it is being used.

I want my computer to recognize spellings like "neighbour" and "honour". So I guess I need to change from "English, U.S." to something like "English, Canada". How do I do this? I want to change the default to a Canadian dictionary.
If you’re talking about Microsoft Word’s dictionary, you can get to English, (Canada) this way:
In Word versions prior to Word 2007:
1.Press CTRL/A to select the entire document.
2.Click the Tools->Language->Set Language menu item.
3.Select the language you want in the list box.
4.If you want to make this the default language for future documents, click the Default button.
5.Click Yes in the message box.
6.Click OK.
In Word 2007:
1.Press CTRL/A to select the entire document.
2.Click the Review tab on the Ribbon.
3.In the Proofing section, click Set Language.
4.Continue as in Step 3, above.
That should do it.

Looking for a dictionary app in the App Store that has the most words in it that don’t require the internet in order to be defined. I’m expecting it won’t be free.
I have dictionary.com on my iPhone and I like the ability to delete some of my recents just to show the good words to look up quickly. The app delivers world-class reference content from Dictionary.com and Thesaurus.com including more than 275,000 definitions and 80,000 synonyms. The app also features audio pronunciations, similarly spelled words and Dictionary.com’s popular Word of the Day.
And the best thing it’s free !
